The South Asian Symphony Orchestra brought together talented musicians from across the region to foster peace and unity through music. Inspired by Ambassador Nirupama Menon Rao’s extensive years in diplomacy, the orchestra provided a platform to promote dialogue, cultural synergy, and friendly understanding.

Under the direction of Singaporean conductor Alvin Arumugam, the orchestra delivered a captivating programme featuring timeless compositions by Beethoven and Mendelssohn, as well as a new work by Indian composer Aryaman Joshi celebrating the spirit and ambition of India’s lunar exploration. The evening was further enhanced by two beloved pieces performed by tenor Anando Mukerjee, adding a vibrant vocal dimension to the performance.

Programme Included:

  • Aryaman Joshi: Chandrayaan

  • Mendelssohn: The Hebrides

  • Beethoven: Symphony No. 2

  • Puccini: Nessun Dorma

  • Rodgers: Some Enchanted Evening
